In this serious game students emergency medicine are confronted with seriously ill patients. Errors are, unlike in real life, not fatal but serve as learning moments. The player learns to deal with stress and pressure and uses the ABCDE method to accurately identify illness and eventually stabilise the patient’s health.

The translation of the actual interaction between the equipment and the player to an intuitive digital interaction using only a screen and a mouse as input.

This interactive installation guides the visitors of Museum Volkenkunde through the Native Americans of the North West exhibition. It engages the visitor through a quiz which can be played throughout the exhibition encouraging the visitor to gather information about the exhibit in order to answer the questions.

Designing a forgiving and user-friendly system that takes all the visitor’s actions in account. Actions like walking away from the screen, playing together and wrong answers.

This game is part of adhd.nl, a platform for youngsters (age 12-16) who are diagnosed with ADHD. In this game the player runs through a number of stories. Each player follows a different storyline based on the choices he makes. At the end of the story the player gets targeted feedback and tips regarding the choices he made during the game.

The Sportlab game is part of an item in the television program Klokhuis. In this item Klokhuis examines how to get better in sports and professional athletes give tips on how to enhance your sport performance. This game tests and improves the sportsmanship of children. They can play against each other and their results are collected in their Sportlab passport. With a variety of assignments, tups and exercises, children will discover how they can get better at jumping, throwing, balancing, etc.

During my study Communication & Multimedia Design at the Academy of Media & User eXperience (AMUX) in Breda I discovered my passion for interaction design, technology and the future.

Throughout the many team-based projects I gathered a broad creative knowledge base of communication, interaction, technology, design and strategy. Projects consisted of interactive products and services that helped people to learn, live and work more effectively, easier and with more fun. Examples are an interactive installation for children in a museum or a game for hospital staff.

Because of this study I am, besides interaction design, employable at every stage of development in a creative project. Analysis, concept development, research, design and production.

About myself

I'm Paul. An interaction designer living in Amsterdam.

The last few years I worked at IJsfontein as a visual & interaction designer for interactive installations, serious games, mobile applications and websites.

I studied Communication & Multimedia Design at the Academy of Media & User eXperience (AMUX) in Breda which provided me with a broad creative base.

During my internship I worked at Natwerk and I graduated researching future interaction possibilities using Near Field Communication for the PICNIC Festival.

New challenge

I'm looking for a new challenge as an interaction designer in the Amsterdam Area.
